She grew up in California playing elite soccer and going to tournaments every weekend. She attributes her childhood team — the California Crazy Cleats — for teaching her the importance of being a good sport and an even better teammate.

Brenda was inspired to write about the importance of being a good sport so kids can learn to lift others up and feel supported themselves. She believes sports to be a funnel for building friendships, developing social skills, and lifelong positive habits.
